CARY, N.C., Sept. 15, 2026 — 76 Fence RDU West officially celebrated its grand opening Monday with a ribbon cutting at its Cary office, located at 280 Towerview Ct., marking the launch of three locally owned territories providing residential and commercial fencing services across the greater Triangle and surrounding communities in central North Carolina.
The event brought together Managing Partner David Barrero, co-owners John Fretty and Tyra O’Prey, representatives from the Cary Chamber of Commerce, 76 Fence leadership, local business leaders, community partners, friends and family to celebrate the new business and welcome the ownership team to the Cary business community. The celebration included remarks from the ownership team, Cary Chamber representative Kelcey Ashworth and 76 Fence Regional Developer Drew Myers, followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
76 Fence RDU West is led by Barrero alongside Fretty and O’Prey. Together, the ownership group brings experience spanning franchising, business management, operations, land development, technical project management and skilled trades.
“Today is an exciting milestone for us, but we really see it as the beginning of what we want to build here,” said David Barrero, managing partner of 76 Fence RDU West. “Our goal is to earn the trust of homeowners and businesses in our community by doing great work, communicating clearly and following through on what we promise. We want 76 Fence RDU West to become a local company people know they can count on and feel confident recommending to others.”
Barrero brings a hands-on technical and project management background to his role leading the business day to day. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served four years as a Hull Maintenance Technician and Surface Rescue Swimmer aboard the USS Gary and received two Navy Achievement Medals. Following his military service, Barrero worked in warehousing and logistics and the performance automotive industry before moving into technical project management, most recently supporting virtual reality simulations for the U.S. Marine Corps’ Amphibious Combat Vehicle program.
Fretty brings more than 30 years of experience in franchising and business management, while O’Prey has decades of leadership, project management and relationship-building experience across the medical and land development fields. The three owners share a focus on quality craftsmanship, straightforward communication and dependable customer service as they establish the business throughout the greater Triangle area.
The combination of experienced local ownership and the resources of the broader 76 Fence organization positions RDU West well for long-term growth.
“Strong local leadership is at the heart of the 76 Fence model, and David, John and Tyra bring an exceptional combination of experience to this market,” said Drew Myers, regional developer of 76 Fence in North Carolina. “David’s technical and project management background, John’s decades of franchising and business experience, and Tyra’s leadership and relationship-building expertise give this team a strong foundation. We have tremendous confidence in what they will build here.”
The Cary Chamber of Commerce joined the ownership team for the grand opening, welcoming 76 Fence RDU West to the local business community and celebrating its investment in the Cary area.
“We are proud to welcome 76 Fence RDU West to the Cary business community and celebrate this important milestone alongside David, John and Tyra,” said Kelcey Ashworth, vice president of education and member business services for the Cary Chamber of Commerce. “Cary’s continued growth is strengthened by local business owners who invest in the community, build meaningful relationships and are committed to being active partners in its success. We look forward to seeing 76 Fence RDU West establish its presence and grow throughout the region.”
